flex files and bodygroups?

I have a model I'm trying to configure, if possible, to use 2 different flex files; it has a bodygrouped mouth that needs flex files for each. The model originally came with a "Left and a right" in the form of 2 separate models.

 I have the flex files already but how can I get both into one model, if at all? Or perhaps merge one without rewriting it from scratch..?

I have already experimented assigning two flexfiles via the .qc file but the compiler simply calls a syntax error and aborts.
