Sorry if this is the wrong section !

hY ! So I created some skins in the near past for source engine based games ( TF2 and Insurgency 2 ) but everytime I try to convert them into .vpk files - they are just invisible ingame . Everything goes fine and dandy until I try to convert them . [THESE](http://i.imgur.com/qypR30j.jpg "") are the steps that I'm taking I followed many .vpk tutorials ( including few on this site ) yet I'm still stuck . Any ideas or solutions ? Thanks ! Edit : Yes . I need them as a .vpk

When you say invisible, does that mean they're still there, just that you can't see them, or do you mean the VPK never actually gets made in the first place? By the way, you don't need to turn anything into VPK, you can just drop the folder itself into your custom folder and it'll work; or not, depending on the integrity of the mod in question.

As Devieus said, the folder itself can work in place of the VPK. Also, is there a specific way you spelled "Hi" that way?

What happens for me sometimes is that the VPK isn't created at all, (with L4D2 this tend to happen for me) so what mostly fixes this problem is checking my task manager and closing the vpk.exe and then retrying and see if it works (after a couple of times it does seem to create a vpk) still uncertain why this problem occurs as this isn't the case all of the time. If this is not the problem and the files you're modifying are actually not seen in-game then there might be a problem with how you have your folders setup. I'd say post the VPK so we can look into it as well.

The VTFEdit makes two files ( a .vtf and and a .vmt ) after you save and you only need the texture file ( the .vtf ) to be converted to be a .vpk :D

Also the VTF and VMT have their own uses. It seems illogical that simply removing one file that the skin would otherwise need fixes it.

The VTFEdit makes two files ( a .vtf and and a .vmt ) after you save and you only need the texture file ( the .vtf ) to be converted to be a .vpk :D Not exactly, the VMT is as important as the VTF is, without a properly setup VMT the VTF has no use. My best guess is that VTFEdit generated an incorrect VMT file which is then overwrites the default VMT when using it in the VPK. Make sure the file paths are all properly setup for the VMT to work correctly.

Strangely enough it works this way - I already released a few skins for Insurgency with this method and it worked for everyone .

A custom VMT isn't always required. Sometimes you can smily use the default one if you're using the default texture or a modification designed to replace it.

I didn't state it is required to use/have a custom VMT, other than pointing out the fact that the error causing this problem is probably caused by a wrongly setup VMT file which in this case by removing the VMT from the VPK file, where then the default VMT is used from the game making the custom skin work, however just neglecting the usage of a VMT is not a proper way to handle this. Try to lookup how to properly setup a VMT and give this tutorial a try: http://source.gamebanana.com/tuts/11498
