Using Sketchup to Create Corkscrewing Paths for SW
Corkscrews are pathways that, in games such as Sonic World, can be used to allow a player to run across walls and ceilings from a single pathway starting on the ground. This tutorial will teach you how you can implement these setpieces into your own Sonic World stage mods using Sketchup. Step 1:
Let's say that I wanted to make a pathway that would connect these two platforms in a way that would let me run from the starting platform onto the wall. To do this, first you must create a line that runs between the two midpoints of the ends of the pathway.
I recommend making sure that the line runs parallel to both sides of the path Step 2: Now you need to draw the lines that will be the sides of the pathway. Do this step as shown here (highlighted in red):
Step 3: On the lines you have just created, find the midpoints. Draw a line between these two midpoints. Repeat this process several times until it looks something like this:
Step 4: You should see now that your path is separated into several small boxes. Draw a diagonal line through each box to create several triangles that will then make up the path. Your pathway should now look something like this:
Step 5: Select the eraser tool. While holding CRTL, drag your mouse over the lines on the pathway to smooth them out. And with that, your pathway should be done!
