Moving lamp tutorial
A Tutorial for Source Engine
Hello, i will try to teach you how to make a moving lamp that you can shoot it and make it move. Let's start.
NOTE: This could work on every Source Engine game, I'm using Counter-Strike: Source for this tutorial.
First, make a "prop_physics_multiplayer" entity in the ceiling, like in the second screenshot.
After, modify the "prop_physics_multiplayer" placing a name, using the "models/props/de_prodigy/lighthanging.mdl" model, Disable shadows and done.
After, place a "phys_ballsocket" in the ceiling like in the fourth screenshot.
After you've placed the "phys_ballsocket", open Properties and place the lamp name in "Entity 1".
Place a "point_spotlight" in the bulb of the lamp, like in the sixth screenshot.
Modify the "point_spotlight" entity whatever do you like. Don't forget add the lamp name in "Parent".
After, add a "light_spot" again in the bulb of the lamp.
Again, modify the "light_spot" entity whatever do you like, but add the same color as you've placed on "point_spotlight".
Compile the map and test if works. This could work on Counter-Strike: Source like in the last screenshot.
