Mr.Keyb0red's Footstep Sounds

A Sound Mod for Source Engine

Updates

Oh boy, more fixes... Yay.
  • Fixed the volume of almost all of the sounds to make them not too loud, but not too quiet
  • Got rid of too much bass on some grass and sand sounds
I hope this is the last update I have to add to this...

Disclaimer: The metal and chainlink sounds in the preview are fixed now, they no longer have background noise, at least that I could notice. I'm not gonna bother changing the preview, because it took a while to make. Finally! It's here! Ohhhhh god, this took f o r e v e r to make, this took me 3 months in total, including some breaks. But yea, these are compatible with ANY Source Engine game. (GMod, HL2, CS;S, TF2, etc.) Now, I miiight release these for each game, I dunno yet. I just went and recorded sounds of me walking and stepping on certain surfaces, edited them in Audacity, then wallah! I worked extremely hard to overhaul all of the footstep sounds, and I'm very proud, if you couldn't already tell. These will be included in the "HL2 Sound Overhaul" AnOldRetiredElephant and I are working on. I used my iPhone 6 to record the sounds. Enjoy. :)

Din't Know you finish all the footsteps sound its really nice and high quality good job btw what recording device are you using?
I used my iPhone 6. It says it in red bold italics in the description, lol. Also, the noise reduction tool was my best companion throughout this.
are you seriously using normal shoes to walk everywhere?
Who doesn't? For this, I just wore some old shoes from a while ago that are a little to small for me. They make the best generic footstep sounds in my opinion.
alright i was thinking your using boots while your recording.
I did for some of them, only for the water, snow, and ice sounds.

How did you manage to get into a vent duct

I didn't. I knocked and pounded on a metal duct in my pantry. I was just looking around my house, trying to find something I can walk on for a metal duct sound, then I remembered, "OH! There's a metal duct in the pantry! I'll see how that works out." And it did, very well.

I can still hear background noise, but nice work regardless.

They sound just fine to me, but some of them were recorded yesterday, when a loud truck was shopping down trees in the distance, but I can't find any background noise. Thanks too man.

    EDIT: Fixed.
