What is Fight Songs Billing?
As per a request made by Potassium Birb, this mod will recreate the mercenaries shown on the Fight Songs soundtrack for use in the casual deathboard (Does anyone actually know what that thing is called?). This means that when people die, they will show up injured as shown in the official art.
What's the state of the WIP?
So far, this is the breakdown:
Regular portraits | Injured
- Scout [Yes] [Yes]
- Soldier [Yes] [Yes]
- Pyro [Yes] [Yes*]
- Demoman [Yes] [No]
- Heavy [Yes] [Yes]
- Medic [Yes] [Yes]
- Engineer [Yes] [Yes]
- Sniper [Yes] [Yes]
- Spy [Yes] [Yes]
* We have many different Pyro renditions available as alt designs now, all of them by the community. If you've an idea you want to see for Pyro, let us know.
Why is this a WIP?
There are a few reasons for that:
- The injured mercs mean custom textures and custom models. So far, I've been able to paint the injuries on post-render, but we're hitting the limit to how far this method will work.
- Waiting until I have all the injured mercs ready will take a while. It'd be best if I just released what I have now.
There is a problem where the loading screen tips share the same files as the casual deathboard. I've not figured out a solution to separate the two.As of version 0.3, this has been resolved (thanks, Potassium Birb!)
- I have not finished polishing or cleaning up the renders. In this stage of development, I might end up having to rerender things a couple of times.
- Feedback is always nice.
- I dunno, sounds cool.
Overtime, I'll include more renders and probably fix a few things, just like how I did with SOUP. However, this mod will only change what was outlined in the original request.
Can I help?
Yes. I need someone who can make Demo's gauze pad. The request is here, should you be interested: https://gamebanana.com/requests/31714
Other than that, constructive feedback is always the best. Later on, I'll publish the SFM .dmx files for anyone to edit.
Can I download this now?
Yes. It's not finished, nor is everything polished up. Don't expect a finished product.
Does this work with a custom HUD?
Yes. The only potential mod conflict is if you have something that does exactly what this mod replaces.
As outlined in the official Modboy Help wiki article (in header 6), Modboy has no clue how to install mods outside of effects, game files, sprays, maps, skins, and sounds. This is due to a lack of a configuration file for the game and mod category (in this case, TF2-GUI mods). So, in short, this is dependent on someone updating the Modboy config script for GUI support, which is outside what I can do.

tldr; it's outside of my control and it won't be happening, sorry.
