I'm currently working on a recreation of the chicken restaurant "Los Pollos Hermanos"  known from the TV shows Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul for CS1.6.

I focus on recreating the restaurant as close to the original in the shows as possible,
while also keeping an eye on good gameplay and performance.

Project is currently on hold, due to the development of the cs_trailerpark remake.
Comments and improvement suggestions are still welcome!

    I really love the little details in the map and all the textures are very nice! You've managed to make a relatively open map with fairly low poly-counts, so well done :)

    A few things to mention:

    • Might I suggest making the sewer tunnels the same size as the ones in cs_militia. As it stands, you can only go single-file through them, and I don't foresee that being super fun if there are a bunch of players down there.
    • Also, on the subject of the sewers (not to mess with your vision), perhaps a few branching off tunnels or a central underground room that both sides feed into? Just a thought.
    • Also ALSO, the lights in the tunnels should probably be func_wall / func_detail and the cables connecting them should be func_illusionary.
    • On the subject of func_wall and what-not, don't be afraid to link multiple objects together (as long as they aren't touching) into the same func_wall or func_detail. Not that your map has any fear of exceeding the 512 entity limit; however, it is simply good practice to group small numbers of close-proximity detail brushes together. For example, the items on Gustavo's desk can be lumped together into one func_wall. Not super important, though!
    • The lights in the main dining area should maybe be illusionary because you can jump into them and hit them, which could be annoying to players.
    • I'm sure you will add more sound effects, so I won't get into that
    • The fence around the chickens doesn't have a back-face texture to it, so when you are looking at the backside of the one fence on the street, you can see right through it. Minor, but noticeable.
    • Lastly, maybe have it so you can shoot and kill the chickens x)


    Love the simple-yet-detailed look of it! I hope you finish it someday.

    I love this even though I barely play the good ol' cs 1.6 these days but viewing maps that are heavily inspired in movies/series is always really nice.

    When you've mentioned that the outside area lacks the details that you're looking for and after comparing with real one, I agree indeed. Still you've done a great job with the map, I'll follow its progress.
    Speaking of details, seems like you have also missed minor ones while you're inside of the restaurant, a few lights are missing in the celling and the hanging lamps as well but I do expect you'll cover these.
