I realize you're early on in the process, but you're really going to have to go back in and make the details stand out. You've covered over all of it it with a texture layer. Regarding that texture itself, I think you have too much roughness to the material. It straight-up looks like a brushed sheet of metal, which is too scratched for a real weapon, and produced too consistently. Break up the patterns a bit and play with different levels of damage on different parts of the texture.
