1. What you need to know:


This mod I'm working on is a mod that will, similar to the Gunslinger and Megaman, replace the Heavy's right forearm with a minigun barrel. I plan to make full first person animations and a world model with the arm replacement, however I will not make third person animations.

This is going to be a big project, I'm really unsure if I can actually do it, but I will keep this updated regularly!

Let me know if you would like to see this completed.

    Bones not present in the original model are most likely NOT present in the c_arms model, which may be the cause your problem if you named them differently from the weapon_bone system.

    You'd either have to rename your bones to match some of the extra weapon_bones in the default C_arms, or add the new bones to the C_arms skeleton


    I just realized you probably replace the c_arms model.

    In that case, you have to use $definebone for each new bone in the QC or -definebones in the compiler cmd line

    StudioMDL automatically collapses bones without a mesh linked to them or any of their child bones, essentially making them disappear.

    ALSO, you HAVE to name the barrel bone "barrel" if you want to keep the original spin cycle, since the minigun uses procedural animations for the spinning (Similar to what the GL uses now).

    I honestly feel like it would be fine if this was less like the gunslinger where heavy literally loses his hand and more like a thing he just puts his hand into like with a handle inside, now the issue there might be the sheer size of heavy's hand but that would make it much more reasonable to swap out with other things. I still really like this.

    You should make the arm become the Gunslinger when you use a weapon other than minigun
    Somewhat inactive modder.

    Wasn't really sure how this would turn out. The Texas Chainsaw Modification did a similar thing, but didn't turn out really well in execution. But you seem to be working around this very well! This is one of the most creative mods for Heavy I've ever seen! I hope to be able to use this regularly! Keep up the great work!

    If you need someone to do in-game testing of your mod- once it has hit that faze- I would be happy to do so, this is due to my extensive time on community servers. I would also be willing to do nothing else other than that due to my shitty conditions.
