For the Character contest, I'm gonna try to replicate myself as close as possible, learning from scratch.

Since yesterday, 13 january, I learned the first steps to making a humanoid player character for CSS. Because I never really did it in detail (I mean a low-poly detailed model) I decided to look to the easiest possibility and recreate myself instead. I already took the necessary pictures for my clothes and such, and I decently was able to recreate a body sized to the t_leet playermodel. As you can see, I already dressed myself with some clothes. So far I took only the head from the t_leet guy but it just didn't work out, so now I'm taking all the necessary time to learn one of the most difficult things I have had to do so far: modelling a head, which is my head xD It's super interesting, I love these kind of things. As a starter I think this contest is a great way to attempt character modelling in-depth and to one day grow a better skill in these organic models. So yea currently going by hundreds of tutorials on head modelling, I found a great one and so far after half an hour of modelling I was able to already create the eyecases >.< (Yes it takes long xD). I'm now ready to move on onto the other parts of the head, but I feel the head is gonna take 50 times more the time and amount of effort than the body. The body took around 5 houres to do with texturing included. I hope to finish myself entirely from the bottom up, and please remember that I only started, so it's far from anything good. Any tips and hints are welcome. One last thing, I will not have the time to learn to bake, so no I cannot start with a high-poly. I simply have too much other important projects so far that learning how to bake and such takes too much time xD Perhaps one day when I have less things to do I could attempt something as complicated as baking, but for the moment I rely on low-poly stuff, which is more than interesting on its own. Lemme know what you think of my ugly face! (I can't render, for crap. And, the lighting so far it calculates is WAY too high) Currently done: - Face, clothes and texture. - Putting together - Weightlisting the vertices to the existing skeleton for CSS - Compiling Currently in progress: - Jacket - Optimization

Well I accidentically compiled it as $staticprop first which made the original .smd compile without bones, and gave me errors each and everytime I tried to compile the model xD After that I had apparantly a missing $hbox line which didn't come with the decompiled .qc file at first, but I got that solved with Logan.

The tutorial I used simply suggested this method, which worked, but was probably a bit more timeconsuming than working in a perspective could bring up. Thanks! Currently weightlisting the vertices >.< I cannot say, actually, that I like doing that. I personally dislike assigning each and every vertices a weight. The table is pretty much confusing because sometimes when I apply a weight, it suddenly becomes 1 and so on. Thanks! Well I just followed the flowline of my hair as it is in real-life so it wasn't really too hard. The materials are a simple stroke of hair, a bit reworked with a 'hair-brush' xD

    Very nice try :) Also,I found it pretty much useless to try to catch the face shape with all these projection pictures. I take it as a chance to start learning it, and I want to do it on a peaceful ritme so yea, I really don't want to start baking yet xD But, thanks for the encouragement on Baking, I will definitly learn it sometimes after my 5 current projects are done.
