Deathmatch map based on the taktshang temple complex in Bhutan.

My entry for the current "High Altitude" contest. I've been away from hammer for quite a while now so it feels good to sink my teeth into such a large project and come back to something I'm so familiar with. The complex / monastery / whatever you call this place is located in the upper Paro valley in Bhutan (for those unaware, as I was, Bhutan is a relatively small country that borders both China and India) along a massive cliff-face. A believe this qualifies as high altitude as many images can be found of the complex steeped in clouds and generally, it's pretty high up. That being said, even if this doesn't qualify as high altitude, I'd still like to finish the project with a timely manor and publish it around the same time as everyone else posts their entries. Creating the interior of these buildings will certainly be a challenge as there's a lack of any images to be found online. I'll probably base the insides of similar sized monasteries or temples. Currently I'm just blocking out the outside of the temples, trying to get an idea of scale and how this might play out. I couldn't see any easy way for this to be a De or Cs map so I did what I usually do in these situations and said "Fuck it, it's a Deathmatch map". To do list ========== - Block the remainder of the map out - Test and make adjustments on the existing layout - Finalize layout, add proper spawns - Begin work on detailing - Settle on a look for most of the map - Detail the rest of the map - Do the skybox - Add ambient sounds - Optimization - Release Good luck to everyone else entering! UPDATE: 25/12/2013 ================== I shouldn't be writing this on Christmas, but oh well. I've decided to stop work on this project and thus drop out of the contest. It seems I've bitten off more than I can chew with this one, I just can't see how to model the interior of this giant complex faithfully without proper resources and guesswork just won't be up to snuff. I really would've liked to follow through with this one and make something really cool, but I just don't I can do that and have this be up to my standards.
