Creating Buy Zones & Nav Files

A Tutorial for Counter-Strike: Source

This tutorial is to show how to create the buyzones for players, and to teach you the steps to make the .nav file (which allows bots to play in your maps). BUYZONES: 1: using the block tool, create a block the size of which you want the buyzone to be. make sure it doesn't go through any walls/floors (i'm not sure it makes a difference but it's easier this way). 2. using the brush tool, make all sides of it invisible (the brush is labeled under 'tools', type "tools" into the filter to find it easier). 3: once it is invisible and to the correct size that you need, select it using the selection tool and under the TOOLS menu, select "tie to entity" 4: once you do that, a menu will pop up. under the drop down menu find 'func_buyzone'. select it. 5: there will be 2 options, click "team number (int)", and select the team for who this buyzone is. .NAV FILE: 1: to create the .nav file for your map(or a map you DL-ed), either create a server using that map or test it through Hammer. 2: once the map loads, bring up the console (by pushing the ~ key), and type in 'bot_add'. 3: it will automatically start creating the .NAV file for you. if it doesn't allow you to do this right away, first type in 'sv_cheats 1', then type in 'bot_add'. 4: the map will reload itself, and then the bots will know how to move around. they won't be too smart, but they will shoot back and dodge you. 5: if you change your map and then want to re-make the .nav file, test run it or create a server to play it on, and go into the console again. type in 'sv_cheats 1', then type in 'nav_analyze'. it will re-create an updated version of the .nav file for whatever changes you may have made. i hope this helps someone and if you have any questions, email me or talk to my on Xfire. i may not be able to help but ill find someone who can.

I know this is 4 months ago, but in case you still don't know, the buyzone texture you use is "Trigger", and just press "Ctrl + T" and type "func_buyzone". Now, back on topic. I think this tut was a little...unexplained, I mean, there were some stuff you left out, like what tool texture to use.

You don't even need to do that. Just create a server with bots in it and it will automatically create the nav files.
