Making Lists with HTML

Quick Tutorial OverviewMaking a list with HTML is very simple; a list just take two different tags no matter how many subtitles you would like to add.
Making A Numbered ListThe first and most basic type of list is the basic numbers and letters list. To start a numbered list, you need to type in <ol>. This will not put in a number, this will only indent for the beginning of the list. Without this, the list will not show up in the right spot. In order to have the numbers show up after you have typed in <ol>, you type in <li> in order to have the first number show up. When you have typed that in, you can put in whatever notes or text that you would like. When you have finished up typing in whatever it is that you need for that note, type in </li>. This will end that note and bring you to the next line. If you want to add in another note, type in another <li>. Since you have already started the list and have a one, this will show up as a two. Once again, type in whatever you want. When you are finished with that, do the same thing at the end of your first note, type in </li>. Keep repeating this process to add more and more notes. Make sure not to press enter between notes; if you do, they will show up double spaced. Once you finish up and have all the information you want on that list, type </ol> at the very end of the list. For example, here is a full four note list. <ol><li>Note 1</li><li>Note 2</li><li>Note 3</li><li>Note 4</li></ol> which produces
  1. Note 1
  2. Note 2
  3. Note 3
  4. Note 4
Just for extra reference, Let's say you want to add subnotes to these notes, here is an example of what you would do in that situation: <ol><li>Note 1</li><li>Note 2</li><li>Note 3</li><li>Note 4</li><ol><li>Subnote 1</li><li>Subnote 2</li></ol></ol> which produces
  1. Note 1
  2. Note 2
  3. Note 3
  4. Note 4
    1. Subnote 1
    2. Subnote 2
You can also make a dotted list, it's almost the exact same thing as the numbered list except for the first and last tags of the list. Here's an example: <ul><li>Note 1</li><li>Note 2</li><li>Note 3</li><li>Note 4</li><ul><li>Subnote 1</li><li>Subnote 2</li></ul></ul> which produces
  • Note 1
  • Note 2
  • Note 3
  • Note 4
    • Subnote 1
    • Subnote 2
SummaryPretty much, lists are very easy to make as long as you pay attention to what you're typing. If you don't pay attention, however, you will probably end up with a messed up looking list. But since there are only two different tags for whatever kind of list you're making, it's very easy to spot your mistake.
Happy List Making!

Posted by Solidus Snake Yellowjello this is almost the same then what's in Cookie Monster's tutorial on how to use html only difference would be that you showed one new thing and pointed one more. New thing would be that you show how to make a sub list and what you pointed out is just that you can change the type of points. This would fit more as an update to Cookie's tutorial on html then as a new tutorial.
I can see where you're coming from, but I made this tutorial despite the fact that it was very briefly explained in his tutorial because I didn't think he explained it very well; nor did he say how to make subnotes. I do have the power to go and edit his tutorial, but I don't have the right to. So instead of asking him to go add it in on his time, I just made a new tutorial.
That didn't stop you from violating my Admin Tutorial.

CookieMonster made a tutorial with a lot of html codes, including these. I should dissaprove it for duplication...

Nice tutorial. I'd talk to Cookie about merging the two.
