alright, no one ever knows how to use offsets (the thing where you
reposition the sprite in-game so that it's not in the floor, quite
useful), so listen up!
look at this.
this is what most boxes default to, although they'll just appear empty. (not all of them, mind you) first number is the X axis, second number is the Y axis.
basically, the first number will move it to the right in pixels, and the second number will move it down in pixels. so [3,3] will move it down and right 3 pixels. in most cases however, you might want to move it up. So you use negative numbers. [-3,-3] now, it'll move up and left 3 pixels.
now look at the included image.
on some skins in the info.txt file, you see something labeled as "offsets" every box here represents a box on the sheet and are arranged the same as the sheet. for example, the boxes I circled correspond to each other. when there's a number by itself, it's the X axis. as you can see, he's moved to the left by 4 pixels because of his big hair.
