1. Introduction

Is there a certain modpack exclusive mod you want, but it doesn't come unpacked? Or you somehow permanently deleted your workspace folder but still have your compiled modpack on your SD Card? Well here is a little tutorial you can use to accomplish both of those.

2. Prerequisites

  • A Functional Dump of the Game
  • Sm4shExplorer
  • The Modpack

3. Switching the Patch Folders

Go into your content folder located inside your dump. Rename the patch folder to something random so it doesn't merge with the modpack you're adding. Add the patch folder from the modpack you need to extract from into the content folder. So it should look somewhat like this.

patch_dump is the patch from my dump and the regular patch folder is the modpack I'm extracting from. Everything else is un-touched.

4. Sm4shExplorer

You will need basic knowledge of where everything is (or what you modded) so you can find what you want. You should be able to do the extracting and adding part yourself now. If the file you want to extract is already modded, close S4E and rename the workspace so Sm4shExplorer doesn't read the folder. Here is proof of the mods being "part of the dump."

Those three folders at the top under model were added in the modpack. Extracting them and opening them in Smash Forge works just fine!

When you're done extracting, be sure to rename the dump's original patch folder back to what it originally was as well as the workspace folder if you renamed it. Restart Sm4shExplorer then add what mods you need to!

5. Conclusion

Well there you go! A commonly asked question fed to you as a tutorial. Feel free to ask questions you have or needing clarification on something.
