Texture editing in Photoshop & 3DS Max

A Tutorial for Grand Theft Auto V

In this tutorial I will explain to you how you can edit textures in Photoshop, of course 3DS Max is needed because we need the .obj file from the exporting part. Tools needed: - Texture Toolkit - [Kam's Max Scripts for 3DS Max](http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=9172 "") - [DFF Conversion tool](http://gtaforums.com/topic/706908-wftxft-to-dff/ "") I hope this tutorial will get you going to also texture some cool stuff. GTA5's modding overall is literally in the alpha version, so easier and faster modding will come with time (just like it did with San Andreas' .txd files back in those days), but for now this is one of the best ways to do it just like you said.

    > **Posted by Critical Error** > > You made this way more complicated then it is you don't need to export the model just the textures and textures are labeled as ytd open the ytd in open iv click the ytd you want to edit and drag it to desktop then get a tool called Gta 5 Texture tool open the ytd with import under file, click the texture then click export, open the texture in photoshop, customize it, then go check the dx level the original texture then in photoshop save as dds and nvidia stuff should show up then where it says dxt level click the one that uses the number as the original, save, and import the texture in texture tool, then save it as a ytd make sure it's the same name as the original file name in open iv, go to where the texture is located in open iv (most likely x64v) drag the file you made into open iv. Then you are done! Have fun making textures! Well, this is one of the ways you can do it. There are many others. One is explained in a video tutorial (check the tutorials section). Another way to edit textures is by following this tutorial.

Nice and well written. Good idea is to use one large texture to place everything wherever you want. Creative :D
