Finally, a tutorial teaching the various ways to remove the "Fire in the hole" sound!

Introduction ================== Did you ever did that Google search in "How to disable the Fire in the hole sound in CSS" and got that sad result that there is no way of doing it without disabling all radio commands? Well, fear no more! The solutions finally came! There are various ways of disabling that annoying "Fire in the hole" sound, and I will cover all those I found, for both client side and server side. For those who are acquainted with command inputs and sound/script installation, there is a summary at the end of the tutorial with everything you need to download and know what will each method do. Client side ================== Ignorerad command ------------------ Both screenshots are related to this command (Me imputing the command and the command in action. See that I threw a smoke grenade and a HE grenade one after the other and no message appeared!) This command is NOT listed in the console but it works perfectly. All you have to do is, while connected to a server, go to the console and type "ignorerad 1". If you are in a server, a message will appear in the radio saying that you are now ignoring radio communications. **Note that this will disable ALL radio commands (Not only the "Fire in the hole" command), and you wont be able to communicate by radio with your team mates** (At least bots do not respond to your radio commands and you will not listen to the bots as well). Blank ".wav" file ------------------ This is one of the best answers to the problem. All you have to do is to apply a blank/silent ".wav" file to the game in the custom folder. There must be two files (For Terrorists and Counter-Terrorists) which names must be "t\_fireinhole" and "ct\_fireinhole". These files must be applied in the following folder: **"...\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Source\cstrike\custom\my\_custom\_stuff\sound\radio"** **Note 1:** If you do not have those folders, create them yourself. **Note 2:** Don't know where to obtain a blank/silent ".wav" file? Follow this [link](http://css.gamebanana.com/sounds/21562 "Silent "Fire in the hole" sound") to download one (actually two, for Terrorist and Counter-Terrorists)! Script method ------------------ This script (Follow this [link](http://css.gamebanana.com/scripts/8321 "Mute "Fire in the hole" sound")) allows you to mute the "Fire in the hole sound", but it also allows you to mute any other radio command sound. You just need to edit the volume of the sound you want. To install this scrip, just create a notepad file called "game\_sounds\_radio.txt" and then paste the script in it. Then, move this file to the following folder: **"Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Source\cstrike\custom\my\_custom\_stuff\scripts"** **Note 1:** If you do not have those folders, create them yourself. Server side ================== Sv_ignoregrenaderadio command ------------------ This is one of the best ways to mute the "Fire in the hole" to the server itself. When doing this, both sound AND message will stop appearing to everyone. Simply input "sv_ignoregrenaderadio 1" to your SRCDS console or add it to the autoexec.cfg. Final notes ================== There are other ways to do the mute of the "Fire in the hole" sound both to client side and server side. We have other kinds of ways to mute this annoying and unnecessary sound (Example, binding a key to the "ignorerad" command, using a server plug-in that blocks the "Fire in the hole" message and sound from all players, etc), but this tutorial covers up the ways I think that work the best to do the job. Some say that scripts are dangerous cause you can be accused of cheating by the VAC system, and that discussion leads many to refuse using the script, and for those, the sound method is presented (Which is the one I'm currently using, but really, the script is no harm, VAC system wont just ban someone for a simple radio sound volume edit). I hope I served the community by doing this tutorial, let us all, finally, play Counter Strike with the silence of grenade throwing!! Summary ================== Client side ------------------ ### Ignorerad command Input "Ignorerad 1" in the console while connected to a server. That is the reason why I added both ways! Although I know this kind of scripts wont do any harm, some people still refuse to accept it cause they are scared to be banned by the VAC system. And of course, the ignorerad is something that most people do not want, so, I presented options for every type of player.
