How to split a mesh up to ease compiling

A Tutorial for Counter-Strike 1.6

This tutorial is linked with the tutorial on how to convert CS:S skins to CS 1.6.
Method
Ok lets say you're porting a gun from CS:S but you go to "Tools > Show Model Statistics" and there are 8000 triangles, that's too much for Gold Source so you must split it (in which we are doing).
1. Import a high poly model that is beyond the limit of triangles (3500 is the limit).
2. On the right, there are a series of tools, choose "Select and Click on "Face."
3. While on face, select a portion of the mesh (probably half of it) then press delete. Go back and check the model statistics, make sure the triangles are below 3500, if it is export that model.
4. Then press Ctrl + Z to undo the delete and press Ctrl + I to invert your selected portion, make sure that side is also below 3500, then export it.
5. When you're done, compile then it should work.


Remember. Use this tut ONLY if it says during compiling: "Too many vertices in mesh [smd file here]."

    Oh, wow! Separate shitty 7k model by two, how clever! What about delete invisible spases? Screw that, in game everyone will want to look inside my scope and to admire the bullet in my barrel, this is not a trouble that fps is >20, the main is the picture >:(

    Even if you export the model split into 2 .smd's you would still have to mention one of the $body meshes in the .qc because it isnt added automatically, and you would only see half of the model when you compile.
