How to port CS:S maps to cs:GO !

I wrote this to someone who needed it, and maybe someone will need it later.
Maybe i forgot to add things you have to fix when you port from CSS to CSGO but i will add it later ;)
It's not really detailed but for those who want these information it won't be a matter.
I port JB maps the day after the release of the game, so maybe this informations aren't the better ones. Downloads:
GCFScape
BSP Source
pakrat
They work with java (DL 32 or 64bit) :

How to get CS:S/Hl2 textures

Open GCFScape and go to yout steam/steamapps/ folder for HL2 and steam/steamapps/common/counter-strike source/cstrike for CSS
Open the .vpk/.gcf you want and extract textures/models you want
Put it in your csgo/materials folder

How to get vmf of the map and its textures

Choose your map in CS:S
Open it with BSPsource
In the last tab (other) check the 'extrat embedded files'
decompil the map
You will have two things:
maps/nameofthemap\_d.vmf
Cstrike/maps/nameofthemap/(materiels/models/sounds/ressources)
Put the (materiels/models/sounds/ressources) of the map into your cs:go folder (where you have also (materiels/models/sounds/ressources))
Now put the .vmf in your csgo/maps/(folder)
Open it with SDK CSGO. How to map
optimize(too long to explain here but if you don't the compilation can take a long time (in days))
you have to: fix ladder: put the bloc into ladder texture (orange/red one)
resize ceilings (CSS: crouch/stand: 48/64 => 64/73)
Change old weapons to new ones (like usp)
I advise you to replace CSS textures by csgo one

How to put files into the CSGO map

Open pakrat
open your map
Press 'auto'
Enjoy your map with 'new' textures and 50more MB
New files (swf/txt/overviews/bk) need to be put in manualy

As for it being outdated, this tutorial was made 3 years ago and updated about a year later, so any relevant changes to the information at this point would have to be updated by the submitter (which seems unlikely, given how they responded to the feedback I provided them in regards to the tutorial not being explained very well for certain parts and including unnecessary bits of information in the tutorial as well).

    It refers to the difference in stand and crouch in inches from CSS to CSGO. Taller for CSGO.

    VERY GOOD TUTORIAL , THE GUYS COMPLAINING ABOUT ANY DETAIL MISSING SHOULD KEEP SEARCHING WHAT THEY NEED IN GAME BANANA , THEY WILL SURE FIND WHAT THEY NEED , EVERYTIME I WANT TO LEARN SOMETHING I HAVE TO WATCH 2 OR 3 TUTORIALS

You say you don't care about my notes - fair enough, and I don't care that you're just going to be like every other person that doesn't take useful advice for their submissions and applies it for future reference. You say your works are wasted on people like me - what the hell is that supposed to mean, exactly? I understood what you were saying in the tutorial just fine - I was only stating what minor issues were presented in your tutorial from another perspective. Trust me, this isn't being wasted on "people like me". As for your comment about porting a map not being possible without optimizing it first, I'm already aware of that - that still doesn't make my point about not explaining it when you included that in your tutorial any less valid. As for acknowledging that it was rushed, here's a final note for you (one that you'll probably disregard) - if you're going to take something from a chat with someone else and turn it into a tutorial, you should consider cleaning it up so that it actually has a bit more detail to it.

    I'm not gonna lie dude, most of what you typed out seems like it was rushed. When making a tutorial, you shouldn't rush to create it - you need to make time to actually explain what to do if necessary, as well as provide examples (examples are optional, but most always well received in a tutorial). You also need to make sure you don't make any typos while you are creating it, as it can lead to some minor confusion. Overall, your tutorial was a bit sloppy. As I stated before, it seems rushed. There are a few typos here and there that (although they aren't major) can lead to some confusion for the person reading the tutorial. An example would be when you were stating the location of the _resources_ folder - instead of typing it properly, you had an extra S included in there and made it say _ressources_. You also included an unnecessary segment for map optimization - if you aren't going to explain it in this tutorial, then why list it? All it really does at that point is take up unnecessary space in the tutorial. My final rating is a 3/10. It was clear enough for me to understand, but I had to stop and re-read a few segments to actually understand what was stated in the very brief segments that you covered. There's also the fact that you didn't really give any details for each part that you explained, and that's a major issue for any tutorial - if there's little to no detail, people won't be able to follow it. I'd advise taking some time to revise this and actually go into detail when you have the time, otherwise you'll just be confusing others.
