- Things you'll need:
- Notepad (Notepad++ is HIGHLY recommended)
- Minecraft
- An archiver like WinRar or 7Zip
- Start by going to the run dialog(in windows XP) or opening the start menu and clicking on the search box. In the dialog/searchbox type in
%appdata%
. - A folder is going to open up. From there go to
(Roaming)\.minecraft\bin
and then right click minecraft.jar and open it with your archiver. - Your archiver should open up(I'm using winrar). Now go inside the lang folder and find the language you're using. The default language is US english or en_us for short.
- Extract the .lang file that corresponds to your language. After you extract it, open it with notepad and change the item's name to what you want.
- Now go back to minecraft.jar and draw your modified .lang file right back inside the lang folder.
- Now for the last IMPORTANT STEP: delete the META-INF folder (don't worry, it's absolutely safe).
- Launch Minecraft and test to see if it works. If Minecraft displays a black screen then force update it and start over.
