Quick guide to spawning your games ASAP

OBSOLETE - This tutorial was written for the OLD version of the game. The newest version of [SMAR•CADE](http://sma.gamebanana.com/gamefiles/3199 "") requires very little setup, just install & play. =============================================================================================================================================== This tutorial will guide you through the process of installing the mod and walk you through the in-game tools for spawning arcade cabinets that launch your games. 1. Download & Install 2. Set Launch Options 3. Set Your Screen Resolution 4. Load a Map 5. New Buttons 6. Spawn a Game I am assuming you have played a Source engine mod before and that you are able to find your SourceMods folder all by yourself. 1. Download & Install ===================== - Download the Source Media Arcade ZIP file from here: [http://gamebanana.com/sourcemediaarcade/gamefiles/2673](http://gamebanana.com/sourcemediaarcade/gamefiles/2673 "") - Place the folder named "smarcade2" into your SourceMods folder - Restart Steam Now **_Source Media Arcade 2_** will appear in your Steam games list. 2. Set Launch Options ===================== - Open Steam, go to the Library tab and find **_Source Media Arcade 2_** on the list - Right click on **_Source Media Arcade 2_** and choose "Properties" - Click "Set Launch Options" and enter this into the box: **-window -noborder -novid** - Click OK to save your changes It is very important that SM Arcade always be run in Window mode. 3. Set Your Screen Resolution ============================= - Launch SM Arcade - Click on Options - Go to the Video tab - Set your resolution to what ever your desktop resolution is - Make sure that WINDOW mode is selected - Click OK to save your changes Now the mod window will act just like your desktop wallpaper. You can press the Windows key to bring up your Start menu, and stuff will open right in front as you expect. 4. Load a Map ============= - Click Create Server - Choose the map sm_garage and click Start to load the map There will be some tutorial cabinets placed in the garage already, giving you tips about how to use the mod. Press the USE button (default: E) to access any cabinet. 5. New Buttons ============== CUSTOMIZE button (default: middle mouse) ---------------------------------------- - This is a context-sensitive button. It will do different things depending on what you have under your crosshairs. - Spawn a new cabinet by looking at an empty space on the ground - Or modify an existing cabinet by looking directly at the cabinet you want to modify DISCOVER button (default: P) ---------------------------- - This brings up a portal to the on-line media HUB - Use it to access Downloadable Content or to build a wish-list of games you don't yet own 6. Spawn a Game =============== - Look at an empty space on the ground and press the CUSTOMIZE button - Scroll through your list of games and select the one you want to spawn a cabinet for - Click OK to spawn a default cabinet for that game The game's cabinet will appear directly under your crosshair, so be sure to give yourself enough room so you're not stuck inside of it. This is the end of the tutorial. Play around in sm_garage until you get comfortable spawning and deleting cabinets. When you're ready to move on to other maps, you'll have to learn how to use the Downloadable Content menu to load resources from your other Source games. EXTRA CREDIT ============ - Try deleting some of the cabinets - Try changing the game of an existing cabinet - Try changing the model of an existing cabinet

I primarily created this project for my own personal use, so I made damn sure it did everything I wanted it to. :P

The cabinets you spawn are saved as soon as you spawn them, so there's no need for a Save button.

The next time you load the map, all of your cabinets will still be there.
