Michael Clayton - Movie Review - A Forum Thread for GameBanana.

Michael Clayton
Starring: George Clooney, Tom Wilkinson, Tilda Swinton Plot Outline: An attorney known as the "fixer" in his law firm, comes across the biggest case of his career that could produce disastrous results for those involved. Acting: I do have to say that Tom Wilkinson truly shines in this seriously-toned movie as a top of the line businessman that thrown into a state of mental despair and maintains that composure throughout the entire movie. One of the scenes that jutted out for me was during his interrogation/interview with George Clooney in the police station. George Clooney brings his usual skill for being able to embody a character efficiently and supports the rest of the cast with his steadfast acting. All in all, the acting was absolutely phenomenal. Suspense: The suspense of waiting for the next element or explanation to pop up proves to be a well-executed film tool, yet not everyone will catch onto the true feeling. This 'segregation' of audience attention meters may lead to many viewers feeling left out or unjustified for seeing the movie. Plot: The plot is VERY complicated and twisted in places, making it a very hard movie to follow. However, if you plan to watch the movie in its entirety without permitting your focus to move elsewhere, you will enjoy the smart and sophisticated plot. It's probably one of the better plotlines I've seen in any movie in a long time, considering that most all movies are based upon true events nowadays. Also, the introduction of so many sub-characters makes it harder to interpret the storyline. Cinematography The movie has an interesting angle of camera work which makes every single shot an extremely important part of understanding the movie to its full capacity. This is a great point for watching the movie, appealing to mostly movie advocates, but it leaves room for you to miss important information easily. Acting -- 9.5/10 Suspense -- 8.0/10 Plot -- 8.9/10 Cinematography -- 7.9/10 Overall -- 8.4/10
Final Comments
While the movie is close to being a strong candidate for many Oscars, the twisting plotline, the introduction of so many different sub-characters, and the brief and important shots taken in the camera work make it hard for the average movie viewer to feel the movie's extraordinary and moving atmosphere completely. I must say that the most moving moment in this movie would be the end scene before the credits where George Clooney is in the taxi cab. That is the moment that he smiles for the FIRST time in the entire movie.
