It won't be starting in January unforutunately due to the Writer's Strike, or whatever. They only have 7 or 8 episodes done, and they need a lot more done in order for the season to be aired in January. As of right now, that doesn't look like it's going to happen.
I don't see why people get so into TV shows. Sure, they can be cool, but they just seem to short and too stupid to really hold my interest. For example, I once tried to start watching 24 in the middle of the season, but it just came off as too stupid for words. ("where's the bomb?!" "The vice president is the assassin!") The same stands for Lost and Heroes as well. The problem is the nature of that particular genre of TV show requires that you watch every last minute of it, lest you miss an important revelation (which seem to happen on a weekly basis, so how "revalating" can they really be) and be totally confused for the remainder of the show. Also, most of the action TV shows are usually based around the premise that the watcher had stood in font of a microwave too long as a young child, and will thusly put up with shitty dialogue (a problem which has thankfully been solved by this writer strike, so now there is no dialogue!) and characters as translucent as window panes.
Not that I don't like TV shows, I just don't like TV shows that want to be movies but lack the budget and an idea capable of holding an audience's attention span for longer than 30 minutes.
