A Forum Thread for GameBanana

Hello, im trying to install nvidia driver on my linux kubuntu. im using this command: ~$ sudo sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-100.14.11-pkg1.run the result: ERROR: Unable to find the system utility `ld`; please make sure you have the package 'binutils' installed. If you do have binutils installed, then please check that `ld` is in your PATH. any ideas ? thanks !

First look to see if you download the windows drivers and if you did then thats why its not working you need the linux drives. If you download the right one maybe download the drivers to a DvD or CD and when you take your video drives off you upload the new ones from the DvD/CD. Don't have your antivirus on trun it off when your doing this. I hope this helps some what. Cat

I would try placing them on a CD or DVD. Then see if those links work. If not you could have a virus on your pc. Cat

Yes but save the download to a CD or DVD and then try to update. You need to take the old drivers off before putting new ones on. Cat

Kubuntu should do this for you. When I did it, twice, with Ubuntu, I just selected Desktop Effects and it loaded the appropriate driver. I don't know the regular way to do it, but you should check out Compiz (Desktop Effects) either way.
