Trying to find a tutorial that displays an easy way to add grass to my displacements, randomly generated.

    Well, fortunately i know how to paint alpha. what i am asking for is the procedure to add grass ?models? to my terrain.

    Oh that is what you mean. There are some grass textures that have some code work behind them so the spawn grass "models" (They are 2d actually) but I only got them working in hl2, didn't try them in cs:s... ...i also don't know the names either, so i'm not such a big help. :D

    Well you are on the right track for me though. ive seen some tuts on it but it mostly involves coding and script work and im not very learned in that.

    Some of the textures will have a diagonal line running from top right to bottom left, when viewed in the texture selector.

    They will have grass/plants, and say "shrubs" or "vegetation" use those. About all i know.

    You will need a texture that is blendable first, then you will need to get your hands on the original code in the detail.vbsp for hl2 for that specific texture and copy it into the vbsp for css. Thats what I've done with my map and thats what SGT is doing with his. Its all scriptwork, no placing of anything, that is done by the compile process itself and goes by alpha on the texture.

    Only certain textures have foliage on them.

    You could make one yourself, it should only involve in making a new VMF.

    Or you could use prop_static's, I know there are a few that are used.

    Excellent, thank you lost. this is very much what i was looking for. although it will require a tad more work than i had hoped. It is one more thing i will learn and incorporate into my creations...
