Is it worth upgrading my 32 bit processer or is the tech still to far behing for it to be worth it yet do they have a 64 bit xp cuz im not using vista eff that

    i have a "AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~2.4GHz" cpu

    and i think the 64 stand's for 64 bit (not sure though) and i have xp.

    Any 64-bit desktop processor will work fine for all 32-bit applications. And any new processor is 64-bit capable.

    I under stand what 64 bit is i was wondering if the preformence boost was worth it?
    aim for the head?

    Actually, there are 64 bit versions of HL2 and CS:S available now. They are automatically downloaded after a 64-bit processor is detected.

    Yes, you will see a small performance boost. A program that runs in native 64 bit will always be faster than 32 bit.

    Yes, obviously a change will be seen in gaming speed (not to much though), your graphics will not be changed how ever. If you know where to buy a decent amd 64 bit 2.0 ghz or higher processor for around $100, buy it.

    I have 64bit processor in my laptop, idk does it use it? I mean do you have to have the 64bit version of xp to use it in like css? At least it is 64bit but doesnt show up anywhere, as a gain.

    I have a AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.2GHz but only a 32 bit operating system. if u hav a 64bit prossesor but only a 32bit operating system can u still run 64bit programs?
