Well me and my dad done a experiment on css which was the lowest pc specifcation and we found that 256mb of ram
and a pentium 3
with a 68mb graphic card
but it did run quite well, but i would reccomend at least 512mb of ram
and a pent 4 at the lowest
128mb graphic card.
My rig is a alienware so i run it fine.
But steam does cause me alot of problems!
Intel Pentium 4 650 3.4 GHz 2Mb Cache

NVIDIA GeForce 6800 FX Ultra 256MB
Sound Blaster 24-bit Advanced HD
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Samsung SyncMaster 940b 1280x1024
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 1.86 GHz, 2x 512 MB RAM, 80 GB harddrive, CDRW/DVD, Windows XP Pro
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+ 2.2 GHz, 2x 512 MB RAM, 250 GB Harddrive, Radeon X1300, DVD+/-RW Lightscribe device, Windows XP Home
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300, 2x 1.83GHz, 2x512 MB DDR2 667 MHz RAM, 250 GB 7200rpm harddrive, 256MB ATI Radeon X1300 TV GFX Card, DVD device, Windows XP Home
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 2.0 GHz, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB harddrive, DL DVD+- RW SuperMulti device, NVIDIA C51PV GFX card, Windows XP PRO
That's all, so wich one of them will run css on high settings?
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2 GHz, 2x 512 MB RAM, 160 GB harddrive, Geforce NX6600 GT, DVD+/-RW device, Windows XP Home
Err... All of those can run CSS really good, the only weak point I see is the X1300/GeForce 6600. I'd get a GeForce 7600GT/Radeon X1650XT or higher(I personally recommend the 7900GS or the X1900GT for CSS, it can run the game without any problems at 1280x1024 with 2xAA and 2xAF, making for a pretty smooth gaming experience. They are also inexpensive, a great plus).
I'm ordering a system next week, and the specs are okay. The price is approx. $1700.
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+(I know C2D is a bit better, but the AMD's are cheaper and not as warm)
Mobo: Asus Crosshair, Nforce 590 chipset and socket AM2. Good reviews and lots of cool options.
GFX: I'm thinking of getting the 7600 Fatality, mainly because it's gotten good reviews and it's at discount at the webshop I usually order from. I'll get the X1950Pro if not, though.
RAM: 2GB OCZ Gold DDR2-PC6400 should do the trick.
PSU: Hiper Type-R 580W Modular. Great PSU for this system, and cheap.
That pretty much covers the basics, I already have two 250GB Samsung Spinpoint HD's, so I don't need that. The rest goes to stuff like a case, cooling, DVD-burner and other tidbits. Not a bad purchase at all, plus very upgradeable.
