Hi. Thanks for reading.
I currently have a nVidia GeForce FX 5500. Horrible card. I got ripped off at FutureShop for it. The salesman said it was a good deal because it was on sale, so I bought it. For 200 bucks.
Lately, I've been getting pissed off at the amount of 'jaggies' caused by aliasing, and if I turn on AA then the screen stretches out horribly and I can only see the left side. I was told it was because of this shitty card.
Now, I'm planning on getting a card for less than 200 bucks, and this is right up my crack. It's AGP, while my current card is PCI, and I found out that I have a spare AGP slot. What I'm asking is this: is the 6800 a good card? I want to be able to turn on AA and put everything on relatively high. Anybody?
Also, because I'm new to the whole graphics ordeal, can somebody explain what AGP x4 and x8 mean, and how I can turn up my AGP settings to x8? Thanks again.
I'm a fan of ATI, and I would recommend them. I have a X850 pro (which is getting a bit older now) and it still runs amazingly.
The 6800 is a lower end card, I would save up for a 7xxx card.
Oh, and NEVER listen to a salesman.
The ATI X cards from probly around x600 or whatever are good, mines a a little more rare(its not even on google:0) ATI Radion X800pro X82/SSE2. and yes mine a few years old can run bf2 on mediam high settings, gos up to about 1600 res and can run far cry with 60-90 fps.
