Yes I know theres a million threads on this. Yes I installed the drivers (I am installing them AGAIN too). Yes it is a brand new card. Anyway, I am getting about 3-15fps (usually in single digits). I tried lowering the settings to almost all the way low and still am getting the same range. I have a ATI Radeon X1300 Pro card, and the one dowstairs is worse then this and gets better FPS. I have tried 1gb and 2gb of RAM. My computer monitor is definatly not the problem. I also am not getting the best FPS ever on WoW. My friend has the same card but in AGP and he has everything as high as it can go and runs at a consistent 50-60 FPS, even in places like stormwind or ironforge. So, any ideas?

Format you HDD and make a clean install.

You used a NVIDIA GPU before you bought ATI?

If you do not want to format, try "DriverCleaner" and remove every old driver files.

First, since it's a recent card, I want to suggest the decent probablity that you have a defective card. Defective cards can still work, but push out inconsistant results. My 6600GT should have been pulling most of games smoothly at low settings. It didn't. I was incredibly choppy and slow (and on Worms Armageddon!? hell no! RMA!!!) Of course, Jaton is a shitty manufactuer, so I ended up buying a new card 7600GT from a more trusted manufactuer.

Second, as to the C++ screenshot you posted, perhaps something is wrong with your chipset drivers? (not the video drivers) or maybe you are missing one of those special files like the NET 1.1 type of files.

OK got on WoW. Same bad FPS issues wether the settings are all the way down or all the way up. WTF. I know this is probably not it, but could it be because my comp is too hot?

    Download "Driver Cleaner Pro"
Uninstall all your GPU drivers and restart your Windows into Save Mode.
Clear the driver files with Driver Cleaner.
Restart to Windows again and install the drivers once again.

If this does not work, format you HDD.

And if this not works ... maybe you got a bad card.

But like I already said... ask the guys on this forum: link

Monitor you cpu usage and ram usage while playing. If it's constantly at 100%, then something else might be wrong.
    malware
    some sort of auto-scan
... in other words, it's not necessarily a problem with GPU/drivers.

Guys, I just installed XP from a reformat about 3 days ago. I doubt its mal/spyware. My CPU usage is about normal.

And I am not reformatting again. Shit takes forever.

Sry ... I heaven't read that you installed windows 3 days ago. So it must be clean.

ATI GPU have enabled 2x AA by default... don't you think that this could couse the bad performance?

If the card is defective... do you have another rig to test the card on it?

I turned EVERYTHING off and all low and it still is doing it.

Oh jeese I hope this thing isnt defective, I can't return it now.

Also, just thought id let you know incase it helps you, while watching the cinematics for WoW whenever it does a transition thing from race to race, the FPS of the video drops like to 2 for about 4 seconds then goes back to normal.

Yeah really. I got a Radeon (read my first post)

and it was 130 when i bought it off of tigerdirect.

Also i dont think the card is broken. I have seen it tested on my friends computer before and get just fine frame rate. Could there be something wrong in my BIOS? My shipset drivers are all installed.

Uninstall chipset drivers. Then reinstall the CHIPSet drivers then use these drivers for ATI... Omega Drivers. www.omegadrivers.net

They are the most stable and slighlty better than ATIs original drivers. The XG Warcat drivers are the best by far but I cant find the link right now.

Well, I guess I can try that again. Ill run Driver Cleaner Pro in safe mode. Then Ill come back and install Omega again.

After I installed Omega, i put all my wow settings as low as I could at 1024x768. The frame rate was at about 20-25fps. Much better. But I think my card can handle higher then that because I have physically seen it on my friend computer run all high on WoW at 1024x768 and get about 40-50fps. I checked my cpu usage while playing wow in windowed mode and its using about an average 53% which is expected witha large game like WoW. Maybe it's my computer being to hot? When i removed a stick of ram it went down 10C and my FPS went up a bit.

Ill give the reinstalling everything again a try now.

How about I save my hard earned money and just say thanks because I finally got it to work. Wanna know the problem? MY FRICKIN SOUND DRIVERS! I uninstalled them and it works like a charm. I have no idea why, but it does. Now I need to buy a new sound card so i dont have to use the stock mobo sound card and drivers, because the mess up my video card for some reason.

    That was all very odd.

Also, I dont know exactly what FPS im running on WoW (only game tested so far), but in stormwind its about normal framerate to be expected on 1g of ram, my video card, a crappy heastink and paste, and a server that was JUST reset and my ping a pretty decent high. But when my ping lowered and I was in just in a random country my FPS was ok.
