What would be soo cool, is if that Valve made the bullet holes actually holes, so that if a hostage is shot in the hand, there is a hole in his hand, or in a wall, a hole, not just some crappy texture, and the blood comes out of the back of the bullet hole, not sprayes across the front??? >:( Plus, what would also be ace, is that if a player or hostage is shot, then blood should spray out, especially if they are hit in the head or neck :)

    Well theyre working on games like that, but honestly, that'd take a lot of work and it would lag alot of systems if you were blowing chunks outta walls.

    FEAR has a similar feature and we all know you need a monstrous Computer to run FEAR without lag.

    Lol yea, but it would be so realsitic and funny to see a hostage with no head once shot with an awp :P

    Then I got a monstrous comp;)

    OnTopic: Would be cool but Valve dont care, if you compare the work they did on the original models for CS and CSS with the custom models that people make, you see that Valve gives a f**k in putting much work into their games. The maps looks great tho but some of the original models sucked compared with custom ones.

    I can run fear on a GeForce3, 512mb of ram, and 866mHz processor. You don't need a monstrous computer to run fear.

    LUCKY! My compy practically owns yours and it can't even run Solitaire without lag.

    Although that's exagerating it, it's true my compy makes every game lag, even ones that are like 10 years old. The only game that runs smoothly on my pc is Unreal Tournament, the original.

    Nah, my desktop can run FEAR with no lags on default graphics. Just checkmy rig and youll see its not that good

    Actually you can do it yourself. Just make normal maps for the bullet decals. Like in BF2:MC when you shoot the wall a decal pushes it in :)

    No idea but yeah, you assign the normal by adding a line to the .vmf look in tutorials you might learn how :)

    It's funny..People were saying that valve was taking too long with models and such. When you know they were probably working on enhancing them. Due to the gamers going crazy about the models they release them. Then the gamers say the models suck. Just can't please people... =P

    yeah, that's also what a lot of xbox360 games do too. Making modelled chunks is too unrealistic ( I mean unrealistic to make work) for games to run (for now), but parallax mapped bullet holes look great.

    In fact, someone could make parallax mapped bullet hole textures for css, but keep in mind that it would probably be more gameplay taxing than you may think.

    Well the source engine doesn't support parallax maps by default, thought it's possible to use them if you know how.

    It wouldn't take ages, if someone can get some nice bullet hole effects i'd be glad to make a parallax map and .vtm for them.

    Its called Parallax Mapping. This was also used with timeshift. When you threw an explosive or shot something, it left a hole and a mound of whetever you shot at. If you were looking at it from any angle except from the direct side, it looks as though its 3 dimensional.
