Baldi mods have always been a tricky issue for the site's staff regarding quality control. This is in part because the base game has been made to deliberately look like it's a bad game from the 90s and so it's hard to tell if any mods are deliberately meant to look low quality to match the theme or if they have just been poorly done. However we still expect a certain level of effort for mods made for it. For example mods with predominantly poorly cropped images and low effort Paint images would be considered low effort and low quality and so would not be allowed under our site rules.
Without wishing to name users, here's an example of a mod that we would consider low quality. The edits have been made in paint or equivalent and done with very low effort. The images used haven't been cropped properly and overall the mod is low quality.
The opposite of that is mods that we think are good quality. As an example here is TheWizardRoyal's Medieval mod that changes the majority of the textures in the game to match the theme. This mod shows the submitter put effort into making sure their mod wasn't low quality.
I hope you can understand why we want to set a base level of quality of Baldi mods on the site.
We still want to be a place that accepts new modders and people who are just starting out. However being new at modding is not an excuse to put very little effort into your mods. There are plenty of graphics tutorials on the web to help you improve if you want to. Also we have a Works in Progress ( WiPs ) that can be used to post mods that aren't finished yet and get feedback on.
Thank you. Thank you very much. Bad Baldi mods are probably now gonna be rare now because of this. Also, to me, Cutman's Clues doesn't count as a low quality mod because the style was done on purpose and it's supposed to be stupid. I'm gonna be updating the game soon that will include some improvement. I think EpicJake will be happy now that bad mods will be rare, so thank you for this
This is a good sign that the Baldi's Basics modding community is going to have quality control so it once turns good as we aren't gonna see any more low-quality mods like (character) Mania or mods that are terrible in general anymore.
I would be happier if you could take down low-quality mods from other Unity games as well (Arthur's Nightmare, Laranjo, Angela's Aslyum, Cool Guy Teaches Math, etc).
Let's all try our best to make the Baldi's Basics Modding community great again (even though it never was, also I said that because there were low-effort and low-quality mods after EpicJake72 released the modding guide).
I set out to try and make a conversion mod for it once, as a weekend project; the sheer mass of mods made it look so easy to do, but I found it was actually pretty complicated for anyone not in the least familiar with Unity. I found it so hard to figure out, I figured the bar of quality would be higher to start with; I couldn't make heads or tales of tutorials, but apparently a lot of other people can. From what I can tell it would be a looooot of work.
TF2 Spy's Basics in Cocaine and Excessive Snorting may never come.
