Splitting a model into several meshes

I wanna split my gun into parts because the reference smd hit vertex limit. I know it's possible to do this. I'm trying this in QC:
$body "studio" "part1"
$body "studio" "part2"
studio I originally had
weapon but in other skins' QC:
$body "studio" "f_m4a1_template"
$body "studio" "f_m4a1_template2"
$body "studio" "f_m4a1_template4"
$body "studio" "f_m4a1_template5"
$body "studio" "f_m4a1_template6"
It doesn't work. I've also tried changing
studio back to
weapon but it also doesn't work, it just compiles part1 and ignore part2 entirely
Nvm I've fixed it without doing anything (I just turned on my computer today after an hour of trying to fix this yesterday and it worked without issue.
