Custom detail props

A Forum Thread for Half-Life 2: Episode Two


I have a problem.

I'm trying to make my own detail props but every time i run my map the game crashes.

"failed to lock vertex buffer in CMeshDX8::LockVertexBuffer: nVertexCount=-36, nFirstVertex=24"

in the compile window it says:

KeyValues Error: RecursiveLoadFromBuffer:  got } in key in file detail_grass_01.vbsp

detail, Grass_floor, 

KeyValues Error: LoadFromBuffer: missing { in file detail_grass_01.vbsp

(*detail*), (*Grass_floor*), 

my vbsp file look like this:

        density 500
             alpha 0
                        sprite "0 0 256 128 256"
                        spritesize "0.5 1 10 20"
                        spriterandomscale .3
                        sprite_shape tri
                        sway 0.5
                        upright 1
                        maxangle 70





I also tryed to duplicate detail.vbsp and rename it to detail2.vbsp than set it in map properties ...but it also didn't work...

When I set to orginal detail.vbsp it works...

Texture is custom and has %detailtype in vmt...

I don't know whats the problem...I folowed every tutorial for detail props.
