Steam No Longer Allows Media of Non-Steam games?

A Forum Thread for Steam

I don't know if this is a bug or if Valve intentionally decided to no longer permit pictures (and videos) of non-Steam games on the Friend's activity page.

A while back, it was possible to upload images of non-Steam games to your friends. Now, it appears they no longer appear on said page regardless if the upload is successful.

I thought I was the only one who had this issue until another friend said the same thing.

Is that really how it's supposed to be? How would it be able to tell it's a non-steam game anyway?

A while back, friends can see and upvote non-Steam media on the Friend Activity page.

You can tell if it's a non-Steam game with the "Non-Steam" tag on the images/game when they used to appear on the Friend Activity page. Now, the only way to tell if it's a non-Steam game on the images page is the game lacks a Steam product logo (or something like that).

Dumb me, I should've noticed. Then again it's not like I check the activity page that often. In fact, it's almost never.

I'm not sure whether to think of this as a glitch or not, really. They wouldn't have any reasons to actually go through with this, would they?

Maybe they just don't want people uploading Overwatch media :P

I understand. I just like to upload pics as it's one of my hobbies and I took photography class thus I like to share pics with my pals. I thought maybe Valve doesn't want people to promote non-Steam games to friends but that just might be me.

It's most likely a bug, if they did that they would have to mention it within their change logs.
