How can I make it work on Linux Mint 13?

So far I've managed to install CS using wine and when I go to start it I get the small title image and then the resolution changes and the screen goes black and the computer becomes unresponsive. Yes, I know that this is the SoC area and not CS, but this one gets more traffic and I'd be happy with ANY stalker game I could get at this point. SoC was always my favorite anyway. So does anyone here successfully run any of the STALKER games on Linux? I know it is possible because I've seen YouTube videos of it, it's just that most are in Russian and I have yet to find on that explains how.

CS is native on Linux, in case you weren't aware.

As for SoC, there's some information on its WineHQ page but what you described is almost certainly a bug in your graphics driver and probably has causes unrelated to Wine.

He probably meant CS as in Clear Sky, not Counter Strike.

I remember running CS and CoP through wine1.5 last year (I already had them both installed on my Windows partition, so I didn't test installing, just running them).
What's your graphics card and what version of drivers are you using? Wine shouldn't lock up your computer. Can you use Ctrl + Alt + F1 to switch to a different virtual console and do wineserver -k from there (you should be able to go back to your desktop with Ctrl + Alt + F7)?
