How do i Camo a weapon? - A Forum Thread for Counter-Strike: Source

I know to to import stuff etc and run the skin in-game. just need a few info.

Hey guys. as you have seen many camo's of weapons in the css skins section, I've decided to do skinning on weapons. im working on the m4a1 now. some parts of the weapon are not meant to be camofied. there are a lot of parts. does someone have a file that has only those parts with transparent background? if you know another way please reply to this topic Thanks in advance :)

In Blender you can select the faces you want to change, then export the UV layout and only change those parts; it's either that or use common sense on assessing which part is which.

Alternatively, don't make another camo skin for CSS.

    1. select the parts you want to exclude from the camo 2. copy+paste said parts into a new layer 3. add your camo to original layer 4. put the new layer over the original. 5. thats all she wrote

Camo is a nice exercise, but to call it a skin is probably not right, unless you're doing everything right (you didn't do that, by the way, why is the mag camoed as well?); as such, it usually doesn't warrant a release either. You want to work the big time, it's best to learn a 3D program, it will make the texturework much easier as well; don't worry, it's not as daunting as it sounds.

if you wanted to know how to NOT have the camo texture on certain parts on the weapon, why didnt you do that? the texture files are just the default M4 textures with a camo tex on top, EVERYWHERE
