I need help with this build

A Forum Thread for GameBanana

Suggestions please

I'm currently having frequent Bsods on my current pc so I decided that I should try and building a new one. My friend suggested this build to me. Clicky We were not sure what I should be getting as my video card, so I need your comments and suggestions about this build. My budget is only about $300-$500 and I'm not that much of a hardcore gamer, I just need the right build that can help me continue on 3d animating and stuff.

Did you diagnose your BSODs? What are your PC's current specs? If your budge is only $500 or less, You surely do not want a CPU that exceeds $100. I also don't see why you can't get cheaper RAM, and recycle your current hard drive.

I also don't see why you can't get cheaper RAM, and recycle your current hard drive. Still haven't tried diagnosing the Bsods. Here's my pc's current specs: Motherboard: ECS P4M600T-M Processor: Intel Pentuim D 3.40GHz (2 Cpu's) Memory: 1gb ddr2 It's pretty ancient stuff tbh, and I could actually still raise up my budget.

Yeah, that's a pretty old machine. I will need you to go further and tell me the which hard drive(s), and power supply you have. Open up the side panel of your case, and tell me if the power supply connectors have 20 or 24 pin connectors on the mother board, and 4 or 8 pin on the mother board near the cpu. If you can just take a picture that works too. What we are trying to find out is if your power supply is capable of running newer hardware, so you don't have to buy a new one. You may also want to re use your hard drive(s). The CPU, motherboard, and RAM is not re-usable.

Considering the rest of your system, I highly doubt that it has an 800W PSU. It's more likely to have something around 400W.

Ok well the power supply has what it takes to power a new computer. It doesn't have sata power connectors, and only one 6pin for video card. So you'll need adapters for sata power, and possibly an adapter for 6pin if the video card you get needs two. Another thing is you have to make sure the motherboard you chose has a 4pin cpu connector, and not an 8. The one you chose has 8. Up to you if you want to re use it.
