I find the original Halo to be to my liking. It doesn't have HDR, godrays, or any fancy shader work. All it really has is, what, bumpmapping and nothing else? All I want is some decent textures and a poly count around Halo's and I'll be happy.
I don't think it's nostalgic but I don't really know why I prefer it. Maybe simplicity? Who knows...
As far as counter strike goes, I definitely like 1.6's looks more but I think I like every other aspect of Source more. I'm not sure why.
^ Fuck yes. I love games that have clean textures and nothing else. Halo 1 split screen multiplayer was the shit but everything now is soo fucking filled with props and shit that split screen can't be done. Its such a mess. Too much things to focus on.
I started playing Counter Strike: Source instead of Counter Strike 1.6, but when playing 1.6 i always have the feeling that the corners will cut me in half. There's nothing wrong with that though and more power to you 1.6 guys.
I like the graphics that half-life/counter strike used.
I get a great feeling of nostaligia even though I never played the original CS "back in the day". I can't even kill anyone in it. :/
Old school 2d graphic games such as Donkey Kong Country will never look bad but I do have my limits...
I can't stomach DOS games and anything that pre-dates the NES. They're just too ugly. I can play doom 1 & 2 but that's about it. It's a shame because I know there's great games for DOS but if it wasn't for the re-makes like Monkey Island 1&2 I most likely won't play them.
