Scrubbing through the Steam Store resulted in finding some great 'news' about Crytek's new Ubershooter, also known as 'Crysis 2' : a multiplayer demo, featuring two maps.
This is what can be found on the Crytek site:
> All versions of the new demo will include two maps, Skyline and Pier 17, as well as two modes Team Instant Action and Crash Site. Crysis 2 multiplayer will include six intense, action-fueled gameplay modes: Instant Action, Team Instant Action, Crash Site, Capture the Relay, Extraction and Assault, set across 12 maps in Cryteks visually stunning recreation of the Big Apple. Players will advance through a deep progression system of 50 levels, earning a variety of upgrades along the way for weaponry and the Nanosuit itself, rewarding long-term players with tactical advantages that increase their speed, strength and stealth abilities even more.
Here is a quick overview of the map skyline:
I think what they did with kill streaks is much better than the CoD system.
(The counter is based on picking up dog tags from anyone you kill, rather than the kill itself. Means that camping sniper douches can't get any streaks, plus it gives you a reason to do rambo slides all over the place)
I guess It is good that they made the multiplayer more motiviating, Crysis 1 was simply frustrating and is boring as hell.
Well, their policy about the PC sucks, have you heard the story with the leaked beta thats on the torrent site? They said if things like that happen more often its simply not rentable to develop for the computer.
I played the demo yesterday: I was shocked when I saw the settings.
Graphicsettings besides of resolution and V-Sync are the details and there are only three presets of settings: Gamer, Advanced and Hardcore.
In the Gamesettings you can enable aimassist -.-
I mean come'on! I want high quality PC games back, such like Crysis 1!
Where on earth has this "console port" rumour come from?
Incidentally, i've been playing it on the 360, and some things are still buggy. The killcams and some reload animations are quite glitchy, gameplay is fantastic though.
I would guess that they add advanced features in the full game release, elsewise it would be most senseless thing around : Fullfeature Editor, eye candy graphics which only runs on high end computers and then no detailed settings? meh hope this is just the demo.
^ Yeah, while I was fighting those aliens with my laser rifle in zero G, I was constantly thinking, Why do I not just go outside?
Considering a major part of the multiplayer includes a Down+B smash, I don't think they're taking it too seriously.
Crytek dished out the biggest bullshit of a lie I have heard in the past decade. They claimed to have developed the sequel for the console and PC separatly completely, yet it's clear this is a massive port.
The controls are massively dumbed down, I mean in the game settings there's an option for Aim Assist. The graphics settings have only the resolution, v-sync, and quality (low, medium, and high). Nothing more.
As for the gameplay, hold space to do a power jump? Seriously? It's so buggy that it power jumps half the time without holding it making me waste precious power in the heat of battle. At least it's easier than switching between powers with that crappy wheel we had in the first.
I already bought the game anyway, so I'll just have to enjoy the story mode for what it is, but this just shows that console was dominant over something that belonged to PC and is not giving us any extra features that would be welcome, just because Crytek thinks it will be unfair for consoles.
At least you can do crap like this
I just played it and I own at it.
The game is OK, as for the multiplayer, nothing is really outstanding. The only thing that pisses me off for the most part is that its too CoD like. When I saw those killstreaks I just lost it. It felt too much like CoD 4 with Nano Suits and better graphics, nothing really new, nothing really original. I don't get it. Why in these days every god damn fps shooter has to be CoD like. Let alone that there is CoD almost per year, we have other games that tends to be CoD like (Medal Of Honor perhaps?). We don't fucking need this shit, be fucking original (this goes for the creators of the games) Somethings wrong in here. Also when I saw the graphics options I was like "lulwut?". Graphic modes such as "Gamer" "Hardcore" and the other one I can't remember. What the fuck, why I cannot switch shadows for example to a lower quality if I feel like it? Or any other settings? Why take out features from the first game? What they thought they were bad or something? Ye I know its because of the port, but I don't thing its so difficult to implement such features again.
