I think Admins and Mods of FPSB should clean all spam maps (low quality, no lighting, so on...). The CSS map section is an example of being spammed. It's hard to fine a good one to play because not all of them are rated.

    Yeah, im going through the section as well and Im rating maps that doesn't seem to be fitting. But dont just rate them by looking at the screens, downlaod them and make your own opinion ;)

    Some maps are just a box or be compiled with no light. With over 23000 maps, how long will it take to rate them all? And it requires more than one low rate to be trashed....

    We have a community rating them. If they are trash, the community will rate them as trash and they will be trashed. It's just not very active atm

    Lets do zero math here:

    One or maybe two mods going through the entire CS:S map section deleting maps based on their own biased opinions (that turned out so well with the skins section you know),

    or

    A dozen members just clicking a button to rate the map a 1-5 / 10.

    Wonder which would take less time and effort....

    ^ nope since ethere a thousands of different servers where the maps are uploaded to, and btw, that would totally blow you HDD and the css loading times. and some of them are lacking quality so it isnt even worth downloading.

    I will try to go through the css map section and disapprove some spam maps. If you guys encourage me, please help me by disapproving those maps too :)

    Please oh please don't. I've said it before but sometimes a lot more effort goes into these "spam" maps than you think. We need more mappers not less and they won't develop and get better if they are put off mapping by an overly harsh assessor.

    If you want to help, go through the CSS section and leave some feedback on each "spam" map telling them how they can improve.

    Its easy to disapprove a map because its wrong, its harder to do the right thing and give feedback to improve.

    I'd rather have 1000 spam maps and 1 good mapper come out of that than no spam maps and none of those mappers become better at their art.

    I do not discourage you, I ask for the good of the site that you don't do it.

    ^ Ive disapproved one map so far and simply because it did not work. But ive left feedback on those maps I did not like so far on what to improve and one mapper actually added me on steam to get some help.

    If you leave detailed feedback they deal better with a 1.6 assesment then just disapproving it. Disapproving in my eyes is not for lacking quality but if someone posts one room with one texture saying "this is my map experiment" i guess this does not belong in the maps section does it? Elsewise only those who have corrupted archives or simply are not playable because of wrong mapping are disapproved by me.

    @Pain_Agent You really think the way to solve the problem is to leave disapprovals like "No lighting-> Trash". That has really helped the user improve his map, hasn't it -.-.

    At least Death Anxiety is leaving constructive criticism and trying help the user improve. Have a look at his recent assessments.

    Always try to avoid dissaproving unless the map is specifically breaking one of the rules.
