I wake up, open the laptop, and the screen has a crack on it. I put my fingers along it to see where it is and it's clean, somehow the screen suicided from the inside out. That's not the case here. I got a new screen for my laptop. It's a Gateway NV79.
I attach the new one, boot it and nothing appears. The backlights work and the monitor works too, because I can see the lit up dead pixel in the middle (a cyan dot on the top of the screen). But the issue is that no images are transmitted.
I thought I missed an inverter on my old one, but it did not have one, so that is not the case. Now that I remember it, the screen was not the exact same model as the one I had. The replacement is a samsung made replacement screen and looks somewhat newer than the one I had, because of the design in the back, however it fit perfectly and screwed into the brackets perfectly.
The Replacement Screen.
Any theories to why it won't work or did I dun goof with the order would be appreciated?
the short version is you done goofed.
the long version is laptop screens are not like desktop monitors, each different model requires its own individual inverter daughterboard and usually its own special cable cable. you didnt get the correct screen to work with your laptops stock inverter and cables, so its not going to work. sorry mate, bad luck there. i'd try to send it back and search for a 'complete lid assembly' for your laptop on ebay, meaning the screen, inverter (it may be housed in the laptop shell itself, in which case make sure its included or the exact same model as yours), cables, and lid portion of the case taken from another nv9715u.
