Have you seen this? LANchamp holds tournaments with 16 of the best teams in NA, they fight through an online bracket, and the final four teams are invited to LAN and guaranteed $10k in prizes. They make like recaps and shit of all of their matches and they just put out this movie of the LAN finals in Baltimore. Movie was edited by Dcho, if you guys know who that is. It is fantastic - watch it in HD :)
You've clearly never played CSS wars Cheeze. I haven't watched it myself but what you described is known as an "Ace" and is quite common among pro teams. The reason is a pro player can kill any approaching enemy as they come (single bullet headshot). In this way a good player can take down an entire rush (5 players pushing a single point) if they take out their position coverer quick enough (eliminate the player checking their spot and in doing so leaving the others vulnerable).
To put it easily unfortunately a lot of pro players seem to be immature shouters (there are exceptions of teams with discipline and some of these are the best around). When top players come together however it often comes down to most of the team being eliminated at single points yet lone players able to take on the entire opposing side.
Mhm... no, just no. Literally the enemy team attempted to rush him and he took them all out, which is why I brought into question the legitimacy of them being "pros". I've seen aces before, but never such a stupid one in my life. And, he didn't kill the entire team, all but one, it cuts off before the last person is killed or kills him. And both teams are apparently pros yet they really don't show anything that would make me think " Oh jeez, look at that strategy they're so good." As far as I can tell they're amateur at best. I'm sure matuka or katfish_ would completely destroy them.
Ummm ... you can't be serious. Maybe you're trolling me, cheez? I watch a video like this and am shocked at how fast and accurate all of these shots are ...
I guess if you're only watching the individual frags, you lose the context of the round ... you have no idea if that ace was from a save round or whatever, maybe that's why there was a rush.
This is just LANchamp's highlight movie. If you want strategy, check out the other videos they do - recaps of all their matches. Here's the grand finals of that tournament ... these guys were playing for $10k in prizes! Don't talk to me about pressure! haha...
The text re-cap did say Lloyd Shaffer was supposed to be there and he's supposedly a god at CS. I wouldn't say they were all amateur but just that the differences between skill level of certain players may have been very great. Perhaps explaining the phenomenon Cheezit described.
It's not letting me embed the Grand Finals recap ... but you should watch it. It's awesome.
Shaffer is probably one of the best AWPers in the game ... and his team came in fourth (out of the four finalists at the LAN). Dynamic is pretty much renowned as the best team in the game right now .. AZK is easily the best player I've ever seen ever. Did you watch the whole movie? There are some seriously ridiculous frags on there ...
Competitive CS:S is something that you have to try out for a few weeks to actually know how much fun it is, sure it takes a long time to get on the top level but hey, it's worth it when you start go get a extra income isn't it? It's not like you could play CS:S (in particular) as a full time career, 1.6, DotA/HoN, and Quake III -- possibly. It takes one to known one.
Gotta admit though, LANChamp has sorta been a breath of fresh air on the CS:S Community, only if they'd open up their doors to the EU so we can finally settle that debate on which country is the very best of CS:S at the time being. This would've been no problem during TheCGS, but now it's a completely different thing.
By the way, thanks for the enlightening complement Cheezit. :D
Sadly the thing is, it doesn't matter how good a individual is, it mostly relies on their team work and their luck. ;D
Dbg, you do realize that the majority of players there have been convicted and even proved of cheating online? :D
Glockateer however is actually legit. Pex (aka; shakey shakey), has been convicted of using vent.exe during the ESEA-I LAN event, only to say that he's shaking on purpose (of which is actually true), and Devour and ClowN cheated during those CEVO play-offs against KBS because simply, Devour and ClowN are complete shitters at the game, they were once good a while before they cheated, but now they're washed up. I guess they did prove a point, the CEVO AC is shit. AZK however has been caught cheating a few years before he went to source in CoD2, and even admits it. Freakazoid has been busted plenty of times during CEVO and ESEA seasons.
That's pretty much the majority of players in that video have been caught cheating with their pants down...
Pex (See post #26)[Btw, nice video infallible :D<3] MOAR But may I remind you, it was proven that he was legit when he was heavily monitored at the latest ESEA-I LAN event.
