He mean if you install custom stuff what is the biggest fps raiser,

or high textures example 2048² texture's or highpoly model what of those are the biggest fpsb raisers.

    I think both :p

Textures cause more gpu load than models nowadays (unless the model is a highpoly around 500k tris of course)
Resizing textures on 50% sized maps can give some performance boost, but only around 10fps at max.

If you really want a fps boos, get a new gpu.

Unless you are being limited by the GPU (which is unlikely in CS:S as most modern cards for $100 or less can handle it) then you'd get a much larger FPS boost by buying a more powerful processor.

Skins without world models are the most FPS friendly (If the skins with world models uses the view-models as wee) Btw. learn how to form questions

He quite obviously means what makes the most frames per second.. the model or the texture.

So the difference in FPS between low poly models and high poly models compared to the difference between low quality textures and high quality textures.

I would guess the model dude, as it is actually a 3D model of something whereas textures are just 2D images.

Nope actually textures are way bigger than the model (unless the polys are massive) in terms of cpu and gpu stress.

It's to do with the fact that while the game engine can render the 3d model from mere text information easily enough it has to decompile and interpret an image file from an outside location, then match it to the UVW data of the object and do this with multiple high resolution files

lol higher than 1024 is to much if you got much detail than resize to 512 it will be unclear of course in your case TF2 doesnt need detail so you easily can resize to 512.

Ya you always can resize to 512 if you use the sharpen filter correctly though i prefer 1024

Some texture artists starts with a pretty high resolution (like 4096x4096)

O Rly ? I think most start at min 1024 max 2048, oke 4096 would be possible but thats just to big...

    You misunderstood.

All professional texture artists do their textures at 4096x4096 or higher and then scale them back so that they can be used whatever the engine limitatins later
