What are your full system specs? Is your current card AGP or PCI? If your current card is PCI, does your motherboard have an AGP slot? How many watts is your power supply? It's probably time for a full system upgrade in either case.

A full system upgrade is probably best. If you're looking for a powerhouse, I'd reccomend something along the lines of two nVidia 280 Sli's, or two radeon 4400's+ Intel core Quad, 4gb+ DDR3 of ram, 1tb+ HDD, a sexy soundcard and anything else that floats your boat. If you're going for something cheap-er, I'd reccomend something in the nVidia 9000's, 2gb+ ram, 320gb HDD and whatever else pleases you.

If you just want to upgrade, and you have an outdated motehrboard that only supports DDR1 ram, and/or an/multiple AGP slot, you're going to find it hard to upgrade. And may I add one last comment.

You should probably get a new PC.

Get your self a HD5850, a AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE, 4 Gigs of DDR2/DDR3 ram (If you've got the money, get a AM3 motherboard with DDR3 support.).

That's what I think is an awesome build. :D

PS. You'd probably want a 600W PSU with that.

I think that's quite expensive. I'd buy a GFX card that run almost every new game @ 1024x768, with no AA @ 30 FPS minimum (not considering GTA 4 and all those games). Anyways, if you really have the money, I'd buy what you suggested.

    Lol, are you retarded?

he obviously cant afford this, or else he would probably already have a newer system.

i would suggest the Nvidia GeForce 6200 or ATi Radeon x1300

or somewhere close to that, maybe stronger if you want, but you shouldnt have to spend more than 100$.

EDIT: Also, spend some money on a gig of ram, it makes a huge difference.

went from ~40fps to ~60fps with that upgrade and my system is almost identical to yours.
