It's messed up and I dont see light at the end of the tunnel..

Hi I already posted this problem on steam forums and they were very helpful, but we still didnt find out whats the problem. Maybe you guys can help? Here's the link where we're talking about it: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=936001 Seems like what I was suggested there fixed the problem in HL2/CSS/Ep2 whatever, but seems not to work for L4D. What is causing this? Does any1 know a fix? Or is this Valve-sided problem? Thanks in advance, fawk3s

Looks like it has something to do with the SSBumps.
    I'm not sure.
But it also looks like it would only look like this when you light it up with your flashlight,
If so, then this is just the nature of projected textures and, besides changing the code for it, there is no fix for it.

Doesnt only happen with flashlight. I turned on the flashlight for the picture so it would be seen better.
And there is also another bush with the same problem (only difference is when you flashlight that bush, it looks OK). But it looks fine in Blood Harvest.

    Quote ftw ;)

    Then try this:
make a light_spot and give it the same color as the light_environment.
Point the lightspot at the shrub in question and see how it looks.
You eventually have to tweak the light settings (quadratic, constant and linear keys) and the intensity to fit it in.

I've already tried it. Adding light doesnt matter. It doesnt fix it.

    Certainly it does!
If not, you placed the model wrong.
Or it has wrong flags or whatever.
    Try that:
Place the model somewhere else (dragging that exact entity to another position) and look how it looks then.
If it looks different lightwise then you did something wrong with the placement.
If that won't work place the model somewhere in the air.
Where it sure won't touch any geometry or receive any shadows.
When it looks normal then, you just have a bad position for your model.
And in the end, that is such a minor detail, no-one will ever notice it anyway.

I'm pretty sure that needs to be a prop_detail instead of a prop_static.

Changing it into prop_detail caused it to appear as "ERROR" model ingame. What did I do wrong?

In games using the older engine bushes were always prop_detail, and if you used a different entity the lighting would look weird. Since it doesn't work as a prop_detail, it must be meant to be used as a prop_static. Have you placed an env_cubemap near it and built your cubemaps?
