Screen Capturing?

A Forum Thread for GameBanana

Alright, Windows Media player is an ass

So i'm stuck, i want to capture a sceenshot of a running video off Media Player 10, when i do the printscreen thing the movie still runs when i paste it. I've looked all over google and they said to lower the acceleration, that didn't do me any good. So do you guys know how to capture a screenshot of WMP, and have a good, crispy picture?

Never use WMP. Both VLC and Media Player Classic have a snapshot feature. VLC has it at Video > Snapshot. I can't remember where MPC has it.

Well if you have a windows based computer try either SnafIt or Camtasia Studio. Both support screenshots, and full video. They both have a built in editor for the screenshots or vids. You can get them free as well. Personally I like SnagIt though.

It's an overlay feature in WMP's options; I don't recall exactly where it is, but Google it, you'll find your answer. You have to disable an overlay somehow in order for the screenshot to actually be a real capture.

If your using Media Player Classic, make sure you have the renderer set to something other then overlay. To change the video renderer you have to goto View>options...>playback>output, and set the video output to something other then overlay. VMR9 (windowd/renderless) are good ones to use, if you have vista you can use the EVR ones(available in the home cinema versions of MPC.). After setting it to one of the other formats you should be able to take screenshots in MPC.
