Big Computer Problem

Need Help

I have a big problem with my computer. It won't even boot! What happens is that the monitor goes black and the power button on the computer just glows. My dad said it is probably a virus which blocks the computer from booting. I have tried changing monitor but that doesn't work. If it is a virus, how big is the chance that i can get my stuff back? Can i get my stuff back if the HDD just crashed?

Viruses only work once windows or your OS is loaded. So your dad is wrong, its probably your Mother board. Sounds much like it. Does your PC Bleep when you usually boot it? Should do...

I don't know if it usually beeps because it doesn't make any sounds now. Could it be that the GFX card is broken? If it's just that it's good because i would get a new card then :P anyway, thanks for your help Matuka.

Well i'd replace the power supply to try it out. Maybe one of the Capacitors went dry and there's no proper flow of electrical energy.

Do you have a on board GFX card?I've had a lot of problems with it.If you have it,I'll explain you: -The changes between GPU and RAM memory cause a residual charge of electricity, static electricity. You have to discharge your RAM,but be sure not to make contact with the ground ,or the RAM will be broken for an overload of electricity.
