2 Train Duel Map, feedback?

A Forum Thread for Team Fortress 2

Http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GnVxaCtF-g Before I compile with all the custom textures, does anyone have any feedback? the best way is probably to upload it here, but I'm lazy.. I'll do it when I get some feedback and make needed changes. Cheers

    Maybe remove the overhead thing that killed the engie in the video. Sucks really bad if you're doing good and you get killed by such a lousy thing like that. Also, do rockets and pipe-bombs go straight or are they affected by wind or something? That was one of my major gripes with ctf_convoy_v1. Playing soldier/demo on that wasn't much fun, considering you couldn't shoot at the opponent's car very well and you couldn't rocket/stickyjump either.

    Very original although it does look like ctf convoy. Change the desert background perhaps to woods or an industrial era who knows? I didn't like the dark dirty desert floor for i think bright sand like in convoy looks better. Also i don't see how this map will work... Pyros will blast the other team off the train recklessly and heavys natascha will slow everyone down just trying to jump across. You should fix those before making it completely wide open field.

    Thoroughly enjoyed your video, and im looking forward to its release, Im just wondering whether you were thinking about a skybox, becuse the background looked quite bland, and maybe some objects in the desert? Otherwise, it seems like it will be a hit

    There is wind on either side of the trains, between the trains and above the trains. This makes rockets 'bend' and could prove effective during gameplay. I would really prefer if corpses could be blown back, but i'm unable to do so. I quite like the overhead beam, I was actually considering having it lower so you'd have to time your runs, but I'm sure that would get really annoying. I havent actually come across ctf_convoy, but if it looks similar I'm open to suggestion on the overall theme. The reason I made it in a desert is so it would be less work placing props :D Cheers guys.

    There should be some small rocks and structures in the desert. If you could brush together a low detail train station or gas station, it would be an awesome touch. Also, are there trigger_push's? a really really weak one might add a little wind resistance affect. Awesome map though, its like convoy but appears a lot more epic. i would play it. edit: OH and one of those train crossings - make a road with those red and white blocker thingies, and you can use this road texture: link!!! or an along-side road with cars parked nearby.

    I say you should add more. An idea to do is change it from desert to more of a forest canyon since the textures for a forest exist now.

    The alongside road idea is very nice, in fact I had thought of having Red and Blue trucks racing alongside, but moving so you could use them to transport you along the train if theres too much action ahead. I think the forest idea seems to be the most popular, I'll try and give that a go although it will be a hell of a lot of work. Also, if anyone knows how to control terrain so hills or rivers could me made to look as part of the moving scenery I would very much appreciate the tips; this is my first map after all :)

    You can survive if you land on the tracks, might want to make that kill you as well, also, perhaps make it so that you can make a sentry right outside the other teams spawn and maybe move the cp away from the spawn a bit, on an instant spawn server this map would end in stalemate every time.

    lol a bit of self-promotion there, BHS? This map looks a bit like convoy, and like all the others, add some detail to the background. If I can get your permission, I can work on some stuff for you, more detail and what not. It's alright if you can do it yourself, I'll just help.

    I've added in the road and cars you can ride on along the train. May I have your permission to edit this texture so that looks like it's moving with the scenery? Btw guys I've made the floor a trigger_push, and lowered all damage done by the floor and passing props, so no insta-kill. I've also added a light_environment and I completely agree; it looks 100 times better. I'll be updating my submission later today, so any quick suggestions before then would really help :)
