A Forum Thread for Team Fortress 2

Seriously, Butt.

Well, i started making a spray today, and it was all pretty and stuff <3 UNTIL. i tested it ingame. seriously, it was nice and everything, but when i saved it as a tga and loaded it up ingame (tf2) it was ugly as hell, i seriously saw the pixels! >=0 that's the picture, looks good and all but is it normal to have such shitty quality ingame? if there are any finetuning options in vtfedit that i can use for improving i'd like to know. and i'll go complain at valve for not letting me use 512x512 sizes. it would look alot better. Also, Releasing as a pack with Sniper, Spy, Scout, Heavy and Pyro.

    The quality of sprays is dependant on your texture settings without some shenanigans.

    It depends on your texture quality, mine is set to Very High and all my sprays come out perfectly crystal clear.

    I have the same problem. I really want my spray to bedome crystal clear, AND I'm also using a 256x256 resolution for it as well, but it's just blurry and stuff. Can someone in here either make a tutor how to make clear sprays, or just post the solution right here? Maybe a printscreen?

    I know it does. But when people make VTF's in photoshop, they have to make a vmt also. But making a tga gives you the same quality but makes it's so the game makes the vmt for you.

    No matter which way you choose to create the VTF, automatically or manually, the texture is always going to be compressed. The best thing you can do is just sharpen the image before you import it. If there's a lot of little details, over-sharpen it to the point that it looks shitty in photoshop; It'll level out in-game.

    true with making just the TGA you save a hell of a lot of time. plus no one gets pissed off at you when you submit it to FPSB, but if you take your spray and put it into VTF Edit then you can tweak your spray to make it do all kinds of cool stuff.

    Lots of replies here, let me make a screenshot. also, can mr Deadman22 tell me wich fancy smexy options vtfedit can give me? :D plus, i'll try sharpening it. PS. everything that can be maxed in tf2 is maxed. even with the mat_picmip -10 and r_rootlod -10. so, no improvements left.

    Mat_picmip -10 improves textures, and r_rootlod -10 improves model detail. let me post an example. And that goes for everything in the game. and, R_rootlod improves the players for example. ever checked the scout's eyebrows? looks very low Quality, with that enabled it rocks like 10x more. post both of the commands in autoexec.cfg.

    Looking at your screenshot, I'm not seeing anything out of the ordinary. That's the normal amount of distortion for a spray. If you back up a little in-game, it'll look fine.

    seriously? i'm dissapointed. :( i was hoping that players would see an awesome spray, then walk to it and still say it looks pretty. i hope valve makes the quality a bit better someday.

    Valve has a lot of things to do: -Upgrade spray quality -Update all classess -Update 360 version -Update PS3 version (Not until the world's ended... >:( )
