Need help with a PSU for ATI AGP 512 HD 3650 card

Im hoping to get some advice here, i recently updated my Vid card from 256 Nvidia to ATI 512 HD 3650. Only to find out that my power supply doesnt cut the mustard, MORE importantly I can not run full graphics to play CSS. Current PSU is Clipper Pro 500W thinking of upgrading it to a 650W and 30A output any one got any ideas please?

Even the worst 500watt PSU ever made can power a 3650. What do you mean you can't run full graphics? Please post your full specs.

    What?

A 500watt PSU is definitely more than enough to power yourr 3650.

The 3850 and 3870 require a 450wat PSU, as prerequisites.

My system runs on 500W PSU and that is able to power my 8800gt, which is definitely more power hungry than your 3650. So are you sure you have a 500W PSU?

It's your CPU. i had the 3500+ and A8V Deluxand and i was only able to run CSS at 20-30FPS with a much better videocard, the HD 2900XT.
Source games are very CPU intensive.

Buying an AGP card is like taking drugs for leukemia, postponing imminant and death.

This is probably true, because if your PSU could not handle your sytem, it wouldn't be able to turn on let alone run something.

Actually the ATI cards throttle to meet the amount of power available.
I bought this when i needed power, it's cheaper than a new PSU

the problem is that you're going to have to buy a new mobo because S939s are expensive and slow now. I bought an AMD 5000+ and overclocked to 3.2, runs anything. it would be hard and illadvised to find a new AGP mobo.

Would a AMD Athlon 64 4000+ Socket 939 CPU 2.4ghz 1mb L2 Cache make any significant difference over my Amd 3500+?

Not for what you would need to pay for it.
